I’m at the Frankfurt, Germany airport en route home after a hectic few days in Nuremberg and the SPS/Drives trade fair. While I digest the information gleaned from many meetings and press conferences, I ran across an Eric Byres blog post on passwords and security. The occasion for this post was a hack into a SCADA/HMI system in Houston, Texas. Apparently the operators at the location had a very simple, three-letter password that was easily hacked. Eric offers some excellent practical advice.
