Things have been quiet in the machine vision market for quite a while. After a pretty severe consolidation, news of technology advances other than a few feature adds have not reached me. So this news becomes even more interesting signalling some life in the market.
PPT Vision has released Impact M-Series Embedded Vision System. This new product allows users to perform up to four unique inspections utilizing a single vision processor. This enables what PPT calls significant cost savings by eliminating the need for an additional three systems.
The system uses the latest GigE gigabit Ethernet for communicating from camera to system, and the system does not require a personal computer for configuration and operation. The system operates on Microsoft Windows XP.
