Received some interesting comments on my recent post about manufacturing.
There are some community colleges providing Associates Degrees in technical fields that includes machining, technician and other manufacturing technology skills. But when I talk to them, they say that mom and dad keep diverting their kids from the program. They think that manufacturing is dirty, low tech and probably “lower class.”
So I found some pictures from a recent trip to the Siemens motor plant in suburban Cincinnati. Take a look at these–and then send those people to this blog. Check out the before (I’ve worked in plants like that) and after (almost all the plants I’ve visited during the past 10 years).
I still think manufacturing is cool, high tech and essential for the prosperity of the nation.
