It has been some time since I wrote about personal development on this site.
I ran across this article on the Dumb Little Man (no snickers from my female readers, please) blog. This is an advice blog that picks up where Leo Babauta of Zen Habits has left off.

This one is about starting your day. You know, some people just jump up and are ready to go (me). Then there are others who rise and are still groggy from sleep (or bad sleep?). How do you get up and get going?

Dustin on the site offers 10 tips for starting the day. I won’t reproduce them all here. If you need a boost, visit the site.

  • Exercise in the early morning
  • Eat a healthy, protein-rich breakfast
  • “Sexy time” (enough said)
  • Positive thoughts
  • Do a good deed

I get up about 5:30 without an alarm. Go downstairs, brew a cup of coffee, then read something positive and thoughtful for 15-20 minutes. I then write to my other blog. A light breakfast and then I’m off to the gym or park for a run.

Those 7 am breakfast meetings at conferences hurt my morning routine, but I still try to get most of it in.
