This is a company holiday, so I’ve spent time on email correspondance and doing a little light reading. Tomorrow I’ll be in Rosemont, a Chicago suburb near O’Hare, for a press event dubbed a “Thought Leaders Conference” where the Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute (PMMI) will unveil enhancements to its Pack Expo show this November in Chicago. While I’m in the area, I’m stopping to give a talk on the status of automation–markets and opportunities.

Ever since we started Automation World as a “sister” publication to Packaging World, I’ve been challenged to discover an aspect of the market and the automation content for something called “process to packaging.” While interviewing for a custom magazine article that some of you will see in the March issues of both magazines, I discovered just what the heck is going on. That plus some extended conversations with corporate engineering at P&G. It’s a cool idea that will be highlighted at the show. More Tuesday afternoon.
