Here’s an interesting article about lack of management skills in some well-known tech industry startups from TechCrunch. I’m not an advocate of MBAs (note, I don’t have one), but they are not necessarily evil. But I’ve had on-the-job training and the opportunity to take a bunch of courses over the years. They’ve been really beneficial. I understand costs, cash flow, disciplined organization. How is your organization? What are you learning. This perhaps goes along with my last post on safety. Perhaps better management discipline helps install a safety mindset. A safety mindset not only protects people, equipment and the environment–it also protects profits, reputation.
