I’ve been in Houston at the OTC (off-shore technology) conference. Many process people told me this was the place to go (even when there was an ISA Expo), and they were right. It’s huge. Fills up Houston. I must have walked miles.

I’m working on a complete news round up. Quickly–Pepperl+Fuchs has some oil field HMIs that I never knew it had. Endress + Hauser showed “the world’s largest” Coriolis meter. Emerson Process Management had a huge booth showing several new products including an ultrasonic “allocation” meter and some way cool subsea technologies. GE Oil & Gas talked to me about Intelligent Asset Management. Lincoln Electric has some cool automation in welding machines. Rockwell Automation now has considerable penetration into oil & gas through its many acquisitions (plus we heard about some more talent acquisitions it has made). National Instruments has a cool optical sensor “interrogator”. Eaton’s medium voltage drives are heading down to deep water.
